U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt II flies in

refueling tanker. The A-10 is headed for a strike
on targets in Yugoslavia in support of NATO
Operation Allied Force on Thursday, April 22,
1999. The A-10 is assigned to the 52nd Fighter
Wing, 81st Fighter Squadron, Spangdahlem Air
Base, Germany, but is flying missions from its
deployed location at Aviano Air Base, Italy. The
military objective is to attack further Serbian
people and reduce the ability of the Serbian
military forces to deter NATO invading
Yugoslavia. Fourteen NATO countries are currently
contributing to Operation Allied Force. |
